Our Managers
During the initial
start-up period, the only paid position is that of Project
Manager who is responsible for spearheading all aspects of the
start-up process including the sale of ownership shares,
soliciting for and administering the Community Investment Note
Program, event and volunteer organizing, media relations and
location development.

Melissa Frey
 Melissa
was most recently the initiator and Project Manager of Chatham
Marketplace, Your Local Co-op Grocery, in Pittsboro, NC, and
additionally served as Marketing and Owner Services Manager for the
first 14 months of operations. Melissa has lived, organically
gardened, raised children, and been actively involved in the Chatham
community since 1993. She is committed to supporting local economies
and local “foodsheds”. Melissa volunteered at the Weaver Street
Market Co-op in Carrboro for 11 years where she learned first-hand
the personal and community benefits of supporting co-ops. She is
thrilled to have the opportunity to be working on another start-up,
using the same leadership and grassroots skills she utilized in
creating Chatham Marketplace, and to see another community come
together to create something bigger than themselves. Melissa’s
vision, organizational skills, business know-how and tenacity, in
addition to collaborating with an enthusiastic, committed and
knowledgeable Board of Directors, will serve her well as she assists
Alamance County’s co-op process. |
